An Icelandic Elopement
Whispers of history, candlelight, and quiet love beneath the earth.
Some love stories feel like they were meant to be told in ancient places.
TJ and Gabby’s elopement began in the Caves of Hella—one of Iceland’s oldest man-made landmarks. The ceremony took place by candlelight, deep inside the cave, where centuries-old etchings lined the walls and a single shaft of light poured down from a skylight in the ceiling above. That beam of light, soft and ethereal, was the only natural light source.
It felt sacred. Still. Timeless.

Double Exposures in the Cave
In a space already rich with history, these double exposures added another layer—
soft candlelight, ancient walls, and the quiet pull of two souls leaning into one another.
There’s something hauntingly beautiful about seeing love like this:
transparent, glowing, eternal.
A reflection of both where they stood, and what they felt.

No audience. No Expectations.
After their vows, we stepped into the fields nearby—green and wide and quiet. They took a moment just for themselves, wrapped up in each other and the wind, letting the emotions of the day settle. Just wind in the grass, quiet laughter, and the kind of peace that finds you when you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Wandering through the tall grass,
hand in hand—
they didn’t need a stage.
The Icelandic sky and fields were enough.

After the light started to fade...
Later, they shared a meal that felt pulled from a different era—rich, Nordic-inspired dishes, wooden platters, soft candlelight, and fur-lined benches. It was rustic, romantic, and rooted in Iceland’s history—just like the day itself.
From start to finish, their elopement was a reminder that when you strip away all the extras, what’s left can feel even more meaningful: light, love, and a landscape that holds space for it all.
